Did God Take A Sabbatical To Clean His Gun?

I can barely read anything on my FB feed without becoming upset. The shooting in CT is a horrific and grotesque event that I cannot comprehend. The majority of things I see people posting are about their rights to own guns and how guns don't kill, people do, and don't take our rights to own guns because of this.... Etc. etc. I'm also seeing a lot of religious people posting about how they are praying for the families and how God will give them comfort and is with them, if God were still allowed in schools then none of this would hapemned, blah, blah, blah. You get the gist of want I'm saying and maybe have been one that has posted something similar.

All I know is that there are too many senseless acts of violence that are caused by crazy people wielding guns. To me the obvious thought is that there is an issue somewhere that needs to be fixed. When our planes were attacked and taken over by terrorists and caused the massive loss of human life on 9/11 things changed. Security was beefed up at airports, people were searched more thouroughly and so was their luggage, certain things weren't allowed on planes that use to be, people were more cautions and aware. So after all the school shootings what has changed? Some schools have metal detectors and security, but that costs money that most schools cant't afford. Especially not Texas where the governor wants to eliminate education all together.

So do we really only care about changing things to keep us safe when its an outside threat? When its a home grown terrorists that attacks us, are we not as concerned with the follow up action to prevent another act of terror? Is it too difficult to admit that our right to own guns also means Americans committing acts of terror have that right? So is it worth it? Is it worth what has happened in so many schools so you can have your right to own a gun just like the physcophsths who kill the innocent?

I am curious about something else too. Those spouting their freedom to own guns also spout their opinions about abortion and their belief that it is murder. So aborting a fetus before it has a heart beat is murder and should be stopped at any cost, but everyone should be able to own guns even if that means someone whose killed a school room full of children with beating hearts? Because that one person was crazy like all the school and public place shooters, that shouldn't affect your rights to wn a gun, right? Well then that one person who decided to have a baby and all those who think anortion is and shouldn't affect my right to abort.

And finally I'm wondering if God is so involved in our lives and does so much and listens and imterveens, then why not that day? Oh, because God isn't allowed I'm schools. So because you have to say your prayer quietly and read your bible not during class time when my taxes are paying for you you to learn something god just disappeared? So he isn't always with you, guiding you and helping you along way? I just really wonder if God doesn't want to help or isn't able to. What good is a god who lets horrible things happened with no help or reason and expects you to have blinf faith in him that everything will be okay. Well, it's not okay. If I'm going to have that much faith in a god that is never seen and doesn't do anything to help the horrendous suffering in the world, I'm gonna need something pretty solid to make that faith stick to something. Right now I don't see anything good coming from a blind faith that counterdicts itself constantly.

Saying you have faith and never having anything, but your feelings to show for it is dillusiona

Ranting and Raving... Yup! That's me!

I haven't posted anything in awhile because my two biggest rants are politics and gay rights. What else can I say that I haven't already said? Gays should have the same rights as the rest of us. It's not a religious issue it is a social issue. Mitt Romney is an idiot and all he cares about are the rich and he doesn't give a crap about the middle class or the poor or anyone who makes less than a few million a year.
So.... There's my rant summarized. I'm sure I will have lots of rants after I go back to school... :)

It's your life, live it.

I was always told that the bible is black and white and easy to know what is right and what is wrong. Then I was told that are gray areas and that you can't always know for sure and that where grace and faith come in. So now I feel strongly that people just choose what they what they believe and make that the truth that they live by. I recently had a conversation where someone was insisting that every birth is a direct result of God's will for that child to be created. I posed the question about the children that are born to drug addicted parents and they are born addicted to drugs and are abused. The response I was given was that those births weren't God's will, but that some are. I take serious issue with someone saying that. So when it sounds good and works out okay it is from God, but if it doesn't than it isn't? Can we really live our lives picking and choosing what we want to believe is true and the rest is just the crappy world we live in. Why is it so wrong to believe that the world was set in motion by God and the things that happen are because that is the way it is. The world works and things happen. Why is it so hard to just accept that babies are born, people die, jobs are lost, hearts are broken, life is good and life is bad and that is just what happens when you live. I just think strongly that you need accept that life is life and if you want something to be different than make it different. Being a Christian and praying does not remove your responsibility to take action in your life. I think people use God and what he wants in your life to be dormant and not take any action because your waiting for divine intervention.

Gay Marriage - My Opinion

Regardless of your religious views on any subject, your personal beliefs should not be the standard that every one else has to live by. America was founded not by Christians for Christians, but for religious freedom and the right to believe whatever you wanted without persecution. "In God We Trust" was added to American currency during the red scare when everyone thought everyone else was communists, not because our foundation was based on God. America was founded on the principles and values of freedom and that freedom was not limited to one particular faith and belief system.
God makes it clear in the bible that all sin is sin and no sin is greater than another in his eyes. So put that in perspective. Judging others (which God says not to do) and killing someone are the same in His eyes. Both wrong and needing forgiveness. In our law system they are not the same. One is punishable by death and the other well, everyone does constantly.
So put your beilefs in perspective concerning the country that we live in. Does it really make sense that one group of people calling themselves Christians should be able to make rules that apply to everyone? Which branch of the group is right? Catholics? Baptists? Church of Christ? Mormons? There is so much diversity and conflict in religions and yet this is what everyone thinks should be the standard for our laws. I dare you to find two Christians who believe the same on every subject. So how is that much difference of opinion going to make good laws for the entire country?
The US Constitiution makes it pretty clear what the founding fathers had in mind for this country. If you read it openly you will see there is no issue with gay marriage, the Constitution allowed it. Not specifically, but in its generalities of freedoms for all. Slavery was unconstional and it took it us awhile to admit that and abolish such a horrendous injustice.
Continue to believe what you want to, but that doesn't have any place in the real world where there are millions of people who don't believe the same thing and can give you a really good inisght into why they don't. You can believe whatever you want because you live in America. You have that right and so does everyone else. Accept that we live so freely and are not arrested or persecuted for thinking differently that we are commanded by a ruling tryant to do.
So much time is wasted trying to shove your religioun down the throat of everyone that you are missing out on really be a Christ follower and helping so many hurting people all around you. I wish you would put as much effort in hating others for believing differntly and living differntly than what you think is right into helping the homeless, the abused child, the helpless single mom, the lonely elderly woman. I'm ashamed to call myself Christian when all I see are Christians hating and judging and trying to make their belief the only one that matters. I don't see that in the example of Jesus and I can't justify that. Condemning to people to help is not our job. We do not judge someones heart and soul, only God has that right.

Your Stupidity Annoys Me.

I continue to be told by people that I need to have a baby, or when I have baby... Blah blah blah. There are a lot of people who are very concerned about when Im having children. Too concerned. I usually respond that Morgan and I have no desire to have children at this point in our lives. Someday we may want kids, but right now we are incredibly happy and no desire to change that.
This response is often followed by someone telling me in so many words that God will decide when I have a baby. Usually this is said in a mocking, snarky way like I've been tricked and have no choice but to procreate.
The next response of mine usually makes people upset, but they leave me alone after that. I simply state that I believe God set the world in motion and doesn't cause every pregnancy. I can't believe that he does or that would give me so many more issues with my faith. The baby that is conceived from rape or by a family member is God's direct doing? The baby born to a drug addicted mother and their brain didn't develop fully because of the drug abuse was what God created? The child being raped, neglected and abused was God bringing them to life?
Really people? Is not possible that created the world to work independently like the weather, sickness, growing old, babies bring conceived? I think it's ignorant to act like every child is a gift when their lives may be destined to horrific abuse that will haunt them and hurt them their entire lives.

Heritage

The preacher at church this morning said that people often ask him why he believes in God. He said that he responds by telling them it's his heritage. That his faith was passed down to him from his parents and their parents to them. That he was taught as a child grew up believing.
This may be an adequate response and may not strike anyone else as slightly lacking. I however took a lot of issues with this statement.
I want my faith to be based on something solid and concrete. I want evidence and to have confidence based on solid facts. Is that a lack of faith? Anyone can have a feeling, but is that all that faith is? Shouldn't there be be more to it then it passed down and being a tradition that everyone follows?

Rick Perry is a Bigot. :)

Rick Perry are you really trying to play the faith card and claim that religion is being persecuted while gays have more rights than Christians? Are you stupid? (Well, yes you are.) I don't recall seeing anything on the news where Christians are being bullied and being subjected to hate crimes because of their choice to be a Christian. How ignorant can you possibly be to listen to this hate speech and support this moron?!
Instead of being a bigot and being so worried about gays in the military and implying that they aren't equal to the rest of us, why don't you fix healthcare and education in Texas! Are you so incompetent to do your job and have failed so miserably that other states pity us for having an idiot screwing everything up that your really trying to deflect?
How stupid can we as a state be for continuing to elect this joker who sits in his mansion bringing in millions of dollars for himself while people can't get medical treatment and teachers are struggling to live and students are being shoved through school not being able to read or write.
Ricky Perry you are a bigot and I do not approve your message.
