Gay Marriage - My Opinion

Regardless of your religious views on any subject, your personal beliefs should not be the standard that every one else has to live by. America was founded not by Christians for Christians, but for religious freedom and the right to believe whatever you wanted without persecution. "In God We Trust" was added to American currency during the red scare when everyone thought everyone else was communists, not because our foundation was based on God. America was founded on the principles and values of freedom and that freedom was not limited to one particular faith and belief system.
God makes it clear in the bible that all sin is sin and no sin is greater than another in his eyes. So put that in perspective. Judging others (which God says not to do) and killing someone are the same in His eyes. Both wrong and needing forgiveness. In our law system they are not the same. One is punishable by death and the other well, everyone does constantly.
So put your beilefs in perspective concerning the country that we live in. Does it really make sense that one group of people calling themselves Christians should be able to make rules that apply to everyone? Which branch of the group is right? Catholics? Baptists? Church of Christ? Mormons? There is so much diversity and conflict in religions and yet this is what everyone thinks should be the standard for our laws. I dare you to find two Christians who believe the same on every subject. So how is that much difference of opinion going to make good laws for the entire country?
The US Constitiution makes it pretty clear what the founding fathers had in mind for this country. If you read it openly you will see there is no issue with gay marriage, the Constitution allowed it. Not specifically, but in its generalities of freedoms for all. Slavery was unconstional and it took it us awhile to admit that and abolish such a horrendous injustice.
Continue to believe what you want to, but that doesn't have any place in the real world where there are millions of people who don't believe the same thing and can give you a really good inisght into why they don't. You can believe whatever you want because you live in America. You have that right and so does everyone else. Accept that we live so freely and are not arrested or persecuted for thinking differently that we are commanded by a ruling tryant to do.
So much time is wasted trying to shove your religioun down the throat of everyone that you are missing out on really be a Christ follower and helping so many hurting people all around you. I wish you would put as much effort in hating others for believing differntly and living differntly than what you think is right into helping the homeless, the abused child, the helpless single mom, the lonely elderly woman. I'm ashamed to call myself Christian when all I see are Christians hating and judging and trying to make their belief the only one that matters. I don't see that in the example of Jesus and I can't justify that. Condemning to people to help is not our job. We do not judge someones heart and soul, only God has that right.
